North & South Luangwa

Luangwa Valley is situated at the end of the Great Rift Valley in a rift valley of its own. Between the walls of the escarpment, winds the Luangwa River at the bottom. Over many years, the river has receded and changed course, leaving lots of scenic ox-bows and lagoons filled with hippos and crocodiles. The South Luangwa National Park is the Luangwa Valley's most accessible and popular park. It is 9050km² and the concentration of game around the river is one of the highest in Africa.
Walking safaris were pioneered in this park and are still one of the best ways of experiencing the African wilderness. The park has 60 animal species and 400 different bird species. This is one of the premier wilderness areas in Africa, famed for its seclusion and natural beauty.

Zambia

The North Luangwa park lies on the other side of the Luangwa River, sharing the same geology, wildlife diversity and birdlife as its southern partner. However, due to its remoteness and inaccessibility, the Park remains largely undeveloped and the main activity is walking. This prime wilderness area is definitely for those looking for the ultimate escape and wildlife experience.
