Livingstone

Named after the famous Victorian missionary explorer, Dr. David Livingstone, the Town was established in 1905. As a major European settlement, the town was made the capital of Northern Rhodesia in 1911. As the capital, it enjoyed excellent facilities far superior to anything in the country, as can be seen from the surviving Edwardian colonial buildings that line the city's main road, and even had the distinction of having the country's first newspaper. The proximity to the Zambezi River and the spectacular Victoria Falls has led it to become a base for travellers from all over the world wanting to explore this Seventh wonder of the World.

The Royal Livingstone
The Royal Livingstone in Zambia lies in the forested banks of the Zambezi River. A stone’s throw from the mighty Victoria Falls, the Royal Livingstone overlooks the smooth waters just before it plunges over the legendary waterfall creating a permanent waterspray. Large, shaded and spacious verandas fall within the colonial style architecture of the Royal Livingstone. The bedrooms are located in two-story clusters and are luxurious and spacious. Each cluster has 10 en-suite bedrooms, each with their own private terrace and five-star amenities. There are a wide variety of things to do at the Royal Livingstone. Taste excellent cuisine in the exquisite dining room, enjoy drinks at the thatched Lounge and Bar, try one or two of Zambia s specialities, or savour international cuisine from the à la carte restaurant.

The River Club
The River Club lies on the Zambian bank of the Zambezi River, 18km upstream from the world-famous Victoria Falls. Its main area is a well-appointed Edwardian-style house, with a comfortable lounge, large dining room, impressive library and wide veranda on which breakfasts and teas are taken. Ten luxury thatched chalets overlook the Zambezi River and have en-suite facilities including a bath, shower, toilet and basin. All the rooms have fans. The rooms are all completely open in the front, giving guests uninterrupted views of the Zambezi. Seven rooms have a concertina screen door or window across the front of the bedroom and/or bathroom. Activities include sundowner cruises, visits to the Falls, Simonga Village, local markets, elephant back safaris and Livingstone. With the Zambezi National Park just across the river, hippo and elephant are regularly heard and seen, birdlife is particularly rich and tiger fishing is a challenge for keen anglers.

Tongabezi
Tongabezi Lodge, the first river lodge on the Zambian side of the Victoria Falls, was established in 1990 by Ben Parker and the late Will Ruck-Keene. It is privately owned and run, with the emphasis on exclusivity and romance, enhanced by the warmth and hospitality of the people of Zambia. Days at Tongabezi have no set pattern and can be spent exactly as you wish. Choose simply to relax at the lodge or make the most of a wealth of activities on offer. Each house and cottage at Tongabezi has its own valet who will look after you throughout your stay. With his in-depth knowledge of Tongabezi and the surrounding area, he can become your indispensable source of information.

Islands of Siankaba
The Islands of Siankaba Lodge is the most classic of forested retreats. Siankaba's seven secluded chalets, each with its unique and individually different view of the mighty Zambezi River, are linked by a foot bridge to a haute cuisine restaurant.  All of this is located on two untouched islands in the middle of the mighty Zambezi River situated between the Victoria Falls and the world famous Chobe National Park. The Islands of Siankaba have been developed as a luxurious five star lodge, exclusively sleeping just fourteen guests. The two islands are linked by a suspension bridge leading to an overhead walkway in the tree canopy which connects the elevated chalets. The design and landscaping of all the facilities incorporates the use of natural materials that blend in with the feel of the surrounding bush and takes full advantage of the beauty of the riverine site.
