Mvuu Lodge
The Mvuu Wilderness Lodge is situated along the banks of the Shire River in Liwonde National Park. Mvuu offers exclusive accommodation in spacious, luxurious tents. There are five tents, each with an en-suite bathroom and a private veranda raised over the lagoon, ensuring prime and discreet wildlife viewing. Lodge facilities include a dining room, pub and lounge area, and a pool. Activities include boating, game drives (morning, afternoon and evening), nature walks and birding. An excellent diversity of animals - including large numbers of elephant and sable antelope, hippo, impala and waterbuck - can be seen in the area. Birds are prolific, especially along the Shire River, where the African fish eagle and the Pel's fishing owl are frequently sighted, as well as Böhm's bee-eater, white backed night heron and a host of local "specials".
Mvuu Camp
Mvuu Camp is situated just south of Mvuu Lodge on the banks of the Shire River. It offers a wide range of options including camping, self catering and full board rates, as well as a range of activities. The activities on offer are the same as those offered at Mvuu Wilderness Lodge, but the camp is better suited either to families or those on a budget, as rates are very reasonable. There are nine comfortable walk-in tents with shared facilities and five en-suite brick chalets. A large wood and thatch dining and lounge area is situated nearby, offering a magnificent view upstream to the north. Among the highlights is a specially constructed boma for dinners under the stars. |
