Susuwe Island Lodge is a remote lodge with just six luxury tented suites overlooking the Kwando River. Located in the Bwabwata National Park in North-Eastern Namibia, the Park has large herds of elephant as well as buffalo, hippo, many antelope species, hyena, lion and leopard.
The six suites each have a wooden viewing platform and private plunge pool in which to relax. The en suite bathroom has a bath and shower, and the main sleeping area has ceiling fan, gauze screen doors and mosquito netting.
Activities at Susuwe Island include 4x4 game drives in the Bwabwata National Park and river cruises on the Kwando River at sunset or sunrise to view game, bird watch, fish or just relax. Birders can attempt to spot the unusual resident and migrant birds that live in this area, such as Wattled crane, Racquet tailed rollers, Wood owls and African crakes.
A visit to Horseshoe Bend (a unique oxbow lake) in the afternoon allows guests to witness vast numbers of elephant drinking simultaneously - in dry months, in excess of 800. Alternatively, you can fish for the varied fish species in the Kwando river which include Tigerfish, Nembwe, Tilapia, and Catfish.
